Trinkaurity Cockers

About Us

Trinkaurity Name:

‘Trinkaurity’ is my Kennel Name registered with The Kennel Club.  Trinkaurity is Trinity split apart (Trin—ity) with K for Kaysie and the ‘AU’ from Laura!    It is pronounced, Trin – Kor – ity!   The origin of the name is from ‘Trinity’ which has very precious meaning to me.  As such, I nicknamed my very first litter my little ‘Trinity Pups’!  Unfortunately, ‘Trinity’ is a common word and cannot be used by the Kennel Club as a Kennel Name.  After much deliberation, I proposed 3 different Kennel Names to the Kennel Club, and they chose Trinkaurity!

Ethos:

At Trinkaurity cockers, my ethos is ‘Putting Pups First’.  Every decision made, is made with each of my dog’s and pup’s welfare needs at the centre.  This is built upon my Founding Principles (FP).

Founding Five Principles:

FP 1: Health:

Access to veterinary care, preventative treatments, dental care and ongoing monitoring to ensure they live free from pain, suffering and are healthy.   Responsible breeding management, ensuring welfare is never compromised.

FP 2: Nutrition:

A balanced, appropriate diet, with constant access to fresh water 24/7.  Access to appropriate supplements to support ongoing health, hormones, joints, coat and welfare.

FP 3: Environment:

A safe, comfortable and stimulating home with opportunities for each of my dogs to have rest in their own beds, feeling safe, secure and with freedom of choice.

FP 4: Behaviour:

The ability to express natural behaviour such as chewing, sniffing, playing, exploring, vocalising, problem-solving; supported through structured and free flow enrichment, training and thoughtful set environmental set up.

FP 5: Emotional Wellbeing:

Positive lived experiences that encourage confidence, resilience, security and social bonds with their human and canine family.  Choice, autonomy, control in their own daily life and protection from fear, stress or frustration.

Transparency:

I am committed to breeding responsibly, and will always communicate honestly, openly and with integrity.   The Trinkaurity journey is pathed with open communication, access to clear information and ongoing guidance.

From birth, Trinkaurity puppies are raised centrally within my family home and progress through a structured, evidence-based programme of socialisation, habituation, enrichment and development, ensuring every stage is routed in my Founding Five Principles.

Life Long Commitment:

Every Trinkaurity puppy has a lifelong safety net.  If circumstances change, they will always be welcome back with me, ensuring their welfare is never at risk.

ABTC (The Animal Behaviour and Training Council) Principles:

I aim to follow the ABTC principles, ensuring that every stage of my dog’s and puppies lives are guided by welfare, evidence-based practice and professionalism.

Early Development Programme:

From neonates right through to 8 weeks, Trinkaurity puppies explore a structured, evidence-based and scientifically researched developmental programme.  This includes Early Neurological Stimulation, Early Scent Introduction, gentle handling, grooming confidence, sound exploration, socialisation, habituation and enrichment activities both within my home, and the wider community.  This approach designed to build confidence, resilience and adaptability, at each puppy’s own stage of growth and readiness, preparing them for lifelong holistic wellbeing.

Responsible Breeding:

At Trinkaurity Cockers, the welfare, health, integrity and emotional impact on my dogs from breeding is of utmost priority; they are first and foremost my beloved family.  I carefully select only Kennel Club Registered parents, who are DNA health tested and chosen for the lowest possible COI (inbreeding) score, free from known illness/known allergies, with the aim to offer every puppy the very best opportunity for a healthy, long life.

Breeding dogs must not have known allergies, they must not be on regular medication, have underlying health conditions for example: repeated ear issues/allergies/renal issues/dry eye/lip fold issues.  It is important that all of these factors are taken into consideration before considering mating.

I have a one caesarean section then spay blanket rule, irrespective of the reason.  Should any of my girls need to have a c-section, I would never put them in a position where they are at risk of having another major operation.  Their welfare is protected at all costs and they will be spayed prior to their next season and/or at the time of the c-section.  The determination of timing on that front is made by medical professionals.

DNA tests must be undertaken and extensively so.  From 2026, all Trinkaurity parents (both dam and sire) must be tested to a minimum of:

  1. prcd-PRA
  2. FN
  3. AMS
  4. AON

Optional DNA tests include:

  1. PP
  2. EIC
  3. PFK
  4. DM

The DNA results will determine the course of action:

  • CLEAR – breeding may proceed providing all other health, welfare and temperament requirements are met.
  • CARRIER – breeding may only proceed with a CLEAR mate providing all other health, welfare and temperament requirements are met.
  • AFFECTED – NOT TO BE BRED:  All affected dogs will be immediately sterilised and removed from the breeding programme, living on as much-loved family companions.

BVA eye screening must be undertaken in accordance with best practice and all breeding decisions in relation to outcomes from eye screening is sought from the BVA Eye Specialists.

It is imperative that all breeding dogs are of an appropriate age, stage of maturity, be fully vaccinated, kept up to date with their preventative health care, and maintained at a healthy body condition score.  Just as importantly, they must be happy, confident, and contented companions at home and out in the community.  By holding true to these underlying values, and alongside my founding five principles, I aim to provide every Trinkaurity puppy the strongest possible foundation, not only in health and welfare, but in resilience, confidence and emotional security.
