Trinkaurity Cockers: Founding Principles

My Ethos

At Trinkaurity Cockers, my ethos is simple: Putting Pups First.

Every decision I make is guided by the welfare, wellbeing, and long-term future of my dogs and puppies.  Everything I do at Trinkaurity is guided by three core principles.  They shape how I care for my dogs, how I raise my puppies, and how I make every decision; always with their wellbeing at the centre.  This commitment underpins everything I do and is built upon my Founding Principles.

Founding Principles One:
Health & Care

1. Health & Care

Health underpins everything I do, from how I care for my dogs each day to the decisions I make for their long-term wellbeing throughout their lives.

  • Preventative healthcare and vaccinations
  • Keeping dogs parasite-free
  • Oral hygiene and coat care
  • Regular body condition scoring and monitoring of weight and condition
  • Daily exercise and mental stimulation
  • An enriched lifestyle with ongoing challenges, tailored to each dog’s personality and preferences

Nothing comes before their wellbeing, including breeding.
If it is in my dog’s best interest to be spayed or neutered, I will not hesitate. Every decision I make is based on what is right for each individual dog and, fundamentally, their quality of life.

My dogs are, first and foremost, my family.  If you are seeking a breeder with a high turnover of puppies, I am not the right fit.  My dogs trust me to meet their needs, and that includes caring for them for their entire lives.

Founding Principles Two:
Environment & Behaviour

My dogs live as part of my home.

  • Safe, secure, comfortable environment
  • Clear boundaries and consistent routines
  • Freedom to rest, explore, and make choices
  • Access to their own space and time to rest
  • Daily opportunities for off-lead freedom
  • Enrichment, training, and daily structure
  • Supporting each dog as an individual

My dogs are allowed to be dogs. I love everything about spaniels from their personality, to their enjoyment for the outdoors, to their engagement with scent work, right down to their absolute need to just enjoy being with you as you move around your home!

  • Encouraging natural behaviours at every stage of life
  • Understanding the breed and meeting their needs appropriately
  • For English Cocker Spaniels, this includes:
    • Sniffing
    • Scent work
    • Foraging
    • Digging
  • Meeting these needs is essential, as I strongly believe suppression can lead to frustration for both owner and pup
  • Providing a structured, predictable environment that supports my dogs to feel settled
  • Clear guidance so my dogs feel secure and do not need to manage situations themselves
  • Routine and training that gradually support my dogs to learn what is expected of them

Founding Principles Three:
Safety, Responsibility & Accountability

Above all, my dogs must feel safe. I take full responsibility for their care, their experiences, and their wellbeing, and I hold myself accountable for the standards I maintain.

  • Positive experiences that build confidence
  • Supporting emotional security and resilience
  • Providing choice and control in daily life
  • Protecting them from fear, stress, and overwhelm
(including veterinary care, time away from home, fireworks, and unfamiliar environments)
  • Understanding canine body language so I can recognise how each dog is feeling and respond appropriately
  • Ongoing CPD and canine first aid training
  • Carefully managing my puppy programme so all dogs remain comfortable and able to cope

This principle reflects the level of care and responsibility I believe is required when raising and breeding dogs, ensuring their needs are consistently understood and supported.

The Name Behind Trinkaurity

‘Trinkaurity’ is my Royal Kennel Club Registered Kennel Name and it was created from blending the letters from my dogs names, my name and the word ‘Trinity’ which has a special meaning to my family.  ‘Trinity’ has very precious and sentimental meaning to me, as such I nicknamed my very first litter my little ‘Trinity Pups’.   As you browse my website, you may see images watermarked with ‘Trinity Pups’ and you now know that these particular pups are from my very precious first litter!

Trinkaurity is pronounced ‘Trin– kor – ity’.
