Stage One: Ongoing Care & Assessment

The Foundation of Every Decision:
Ongoing care underpins everything I do at Trinkaurity. Before any breeding is considered, my dogs’ health, wellbeing, and overall condition are continually assessed to ensure they are thriving, both physically and emotionally. As you will hear me say, my dogs are first and foremost, my family. Their quality of life is fundamental to me, and I work tirelessly to ensure they experience as many positive and rewarding moments in their lives as possible.
My approach reflects current welfare guidance and modern understanding of canine behaviour, where both physical health and emotional wellbeing are considered equally important.
This includes:
- Routine veterinary health checks and preventative care
- Ongoing monitoring of weight, body condition, and fitness
- Daily exercise and structured enrichment
- Individualised routines based on each dog’s needs
- Observation of behaviour, temperament, and emotional state
- Detailed monitoring, tracking and triggering of their health, care and welfare
- Responsive and timely professional input
- A life free from pain and suffering
- Time to fully recover between litters
- Additional professional input as required for example: physio/hydro/massage to promote their health, wellbeing and welfare
Each of my dogs are assessed over time, allowing informed, responsible decisions to be made based on consistent observation and professional input, advice and guidance.
Breeding Suitability
Breeding suitability is never assumed. I carefully assess every dam and sire before any mating takes place, ensuring they undergo thorough, holistic evaluation.
This is to confirm they are not only physically prepared, but also emotionally and psychologically ready to proceed. Each decision is made on a litter-by-litter basis, and I will always act in my dogs’ best interests, including choosing to spay or neuter where appropriate.
Alongside professional input, I carry out ongoing, attentive observation of each dog. Every decision is guided by their long-term health, wellbeing, and quality of life.
There is no expectation placed on any of my dogs to have a litter. Their welfare will always come first. Regardless of future plans, I approach breeding one litter at a time and will never hesitate to prioritise their needs.
The foundation of every puppy lies in parents who are physically healthy, emotionally secure, and living healthy, happy, fulfilling lives. Without this, we risk the future health and wellbeing of the puppies.
